Since Mama died at the end of February, I find myself now totally retired and searching for a "new normal."  Since I retired from teaching in 2008 to take care of Mama, I have learned more than I ever thought possible about the horrible disease, Alzheimer's.  I found myself interested in understanding more about the brain and how it works.  John Medina wrote a great book, brain rules, which was easy reading about a very complex topic.  This book also helps me understand more about how to deal with my brother who is disabled with brain damage.  So now I venture on to read another of Medina's books, brain rules for baby, which will focus on brain development in the preschool child.
Regular reading for learning is only part of this "new normal."
I'm finding it so difficult to just simply relax and "go with the flow."  With Mama, my days were non-stop care giving.  When that ended, there was not only dealing with the loss.  I suddenly found myself wandering and wondering what to do?  It's been three and a half months since Mama died.  Since Mama had lived with Glenn and me, I still listen for her to call me from the bedroom.  When I walk into the bedroom, sometimes it's still a shock that she's not there in her recliner ready to say, "Hello!  What are we having for supper?"  Never mind that she just had finished lunch!
I'm sure you are probably beginning to see why I'm calling my blog, Conglomeration of Thoughts and Musings!   I'm sort of "all over the place" with what I what to record.  Perhaps I will improve with time; perhaps not.  I do know that this will help me to get my thoughts out where I can read them as I continue on in this new land of retirement!

....and we're off!

Well, I've stumbled on to yet another adventure that I'm not sure I'm ready for!
But, onward and upward! Who knew that retirement would bring about so much new learning!    Be patient as I stumble through the world of learning to blog!
